I was Born in Pecos, Texas. Raised in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico before
my family returned to Dallas where I went through school graduating from North Dallas High School.
After attending my 50th High School reunion, I was pleased to find that I liked and cared for people the same as
I had when in school. A brief college stint in San Antonio led me to the Pasadena Playhouse in California
to study my first love ... acting. After
Pasadena, I returned to Dallas
where a friend and I established the Way-Off Theatre. We were young and inexperienced, but since Margo Jones of "theatre-
in- the- round" fame had died, there was no place for Dallas actors to work. Happily, Way-Off
Theatre, which was discovered by the main theatre magazine of the time, Theatre Arts. They said, we were
one of the best and most interesting theatres outside of NYC. Since
the only place to join Actors Equity, was at the Dallas State Fair Musicals, I turned to dance. After dancing for a
season, I moved to NYC with my Equity card in hand. After lots
of summer stock, I discovered Uta Hagen at HB Studio .I Spent years studying with her, learning my craft, and later taught
her methods in Texas and then in NYC. With dance as a springboard, acting as a passion, what more natural next step
than directing. Directing has become my way of helping actors achieve their best, and helping playwrights to see their dreams
come alive on stage. My favorite production is always my next, so if you have my next, please contact me I am now semi-retired,
but when the right play, turns up....I'm ready. Being semi-retired
has allowed me to travel and see much of the world (something I never had time for before). One great thing about travel is
seeing first hand that people are the same everywhere: different colors, different languages, and the same hearts. My last
trip was to New Zealand which I found
as beautiful as I had always heard. The people are as beautiful as the land itself. Next trips planned are to Brazil
and a return to New Zealand. In between
trips and directing projects. I live in NYC with my cat, Shadow. |
